Nu-Jazz Funk Radio Show 1 Year Anniversary Podcast 3-3: Soul/R&B/Neo-Soul

This podcast is part of a series of shows to celebrate the one year anniversary of the Nu-Jazz Funk Radio Show: a show dedicated to introducing new music from new artists in the genres of nu-jazz, jazz-funk, acid jazz, neo-soul, funk, soul and house. These shows are to show you the music that inspires me.

This is my soul/R&B/neo-soul mix.   These are songs that I’ve played in the past in various bands or just wished I did.   The song selections span over 30 years of music. The one thing they all have in common is this incredibly thick groove that I love.  To me, they’re all great songs and they inspire me to always have elements of this sound in my own music as well as this podcast.

I love jazz-funk.   Its what inspired me to start my band “Lord Bubba’s Nu-Jazz Project.”  Its what inspired me to start the Nu-Jazz Funk Radio Show.   The songs on this particular podcast are some of my favourites.   There’s modern and classic sounds on here: everything from Roy Ayers to Quantic Soul Orchestra.  I love the classics, but I love the evolution of the genre too.   My band covers a bunch of these songs, and the songs we don’t cover, I wish we did.

This is my “mixtape” of my favourite jazz-funk tunes.

Nu-Jazz Funk Radio Show 1 Year Anniversary Podcast 3-1: House/Dance

This podcast is part of a series of shows to celebrate the one year anniversary of the Nu-Jazz Funk Radio Show: a show dedicated to introducing new music from new artists in the genres of nu-jazz, jazz-funk, acid jazz, neo-soul, funk, soul and house. These shows are to show you the music that inspires me.

So why house music?

When I played in the band “Eclectic Soul” many years ago I was introduced to a lot of house music by Petergail Williams and Thomas Reynolds. It was through the more soulful house/deep house sounds that I was guided to the jazz-funk/acid jazz sounds that I perform today. In fact I’ve added the song “Peace Love and Happiness” in this podcast in part because Petergail wrote the song and Thomas produced the track (but more because its an awesome tune).

This is a mixtape of the house music I like: a mix of deep, soulful and Brazilian house. I hope you enjoy it.

The Anniverary Series is available only on the Mixcloud page.
